Background

LMNO Productions, Inc. (doing business as LMNO Entertainment) is an American television production company that is headquartered in Encino, California and was founded on June 30, 1986, by Eric Schotz, known for producing Kids Say the Darndest Things.

1st Logo (March 10, 1993-2000)

Visuals: On a gray metal background, the letters "LMNO" appear in a blocky, Pac-Man-esque font. Over them is "lmno" in a lowercase, colorful script font. The word "PRODUCTIONS" is placed under the letters. Sometimes, the "in association with" word appears below.

Technique: A still computer graphic.

Audio: Usually, the ending theme of the show or a generic theme on CBS. Seasons 2 to 4 of Kids Say the Darndest Things, How'd They Do That?, and the 1995 Murphy Brown special uses a five-note ascending piano jingle with a child singing along to the notes "Thank you for watching!". The tune was later used by Anvil 1893 Entertainment's logo.

Audio Variant: The first season of Kids Say the Darndest Things (like other LMNO-produced shows) had the theme playing over it.

Availability: Seen on the 1995 Murphy Brown special last aired on Nick at Nite in 2005, Kids Say the Darndest Things (first four seasons only) as well as Guinness World Records: Primetime.

2nd Logo (September 10, 2000-2004)

Visuals: Over a white background, the lowercase letters "lmno" appear in the same script font as the previous, drawing with sparks on it. A black rectangle on a white background falls to the center of the screen, with the letters "LMNO" in white in the same font as the first logo. Under it, the word "PRODUCTIONS" (or "DISTRIBUTION") slides in like construction paper.

Variants:

  • A still version exists.
  • On WinTuition, the word "CABLE GROUP" replaces "PRODUCTIONS".

3rd Logo (September 11, 2006?-unknown retirement year)

Visuals: On a white background, four TV's go up and down, forming the LMNO logo. Here is the animation, as follows: the left and center right TV's descend forming the "L" and the "N" in the logo, while the center left and right TV's ascend, forming the "M" and the "O" in the logo. As soon as the TV's ascend/descend forming the logo, the end result, is the LMNO logo, with each letter in black squares, with red letters in a different font over the white capital letters, similar to the previous logos and the words "CABLE GROUP" below the squares. Sometimes, a copyright information appears below.
