Background

Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont is a cinema chain owned by Pathé. It was founded in 2001, when both Pathé and Gaumont merged their cinema operations, respectively owned by brothers Jérôme and Nicolas Seydoux. The chain was originally known as Europalaces during its early years before later changing to its current name. In 2017, Gaumont divested its shares in the company. It is the second largest cinema chain in Europe.

Visuals: The Pathé logo, with the speech bubble in yellow and the rooster in gray, is embossed on a yellow background. The camera straightens and zooms in through the "A", where the logo then turns brown. A kaleidoscopic pattern is then seen, then forms to create a spiral pattern composed of rectangles. The logo zooms in to reveal yellow, gray, and white glowing squares fly toward the camera. The white glowing squares, and finally, the text "BONNE SÉANCE" comes to view, initially in glowing solid white, then turns into a bordered white and draws out.

Variant: In Gaumont-branded cinemas, the sequence begins the same way but using the Gaumont logo on a red background. Instead of zooming in the A of Pathé, the camera zooms into the G of Gaumont.

Trailers: In-between commercials and coming attractions, shorter sequences are shown to catch the viewers's attention on specific things:

"Bienvenue" : The first sequence seen as a welcome to viewers, before the "Bienvenue" text transitions to either company's logo depending on the cinema.
"L'écran est ici, pas entre vos mains." : A reminder for viewers that the screen isn't on their phones.
"Le film suivant vaut le coup d'oeil. L'autre regard." : A trailer for a movie that might pique some viewers' curiosity. This is a visual pun on the expression "coup d'oeil" which includes the French word for "eye" (oeil), as the sequence uses abstract eyes.
"Mettez vos lunettes 3D" : Getting viewers of a 3D movie ready to put on their glasses.
"Le mode Avion, c'est bien aussi au cinéma!" : A reminder to activate Airplane Mode to prevent calls so as to not let the phone's ringtone disturb viewers.
"Êtes-vous sucré ou salé?" : Possibly a question related to the flavours of popcorn available.
"Prochainement au cinéma" : A trailer for an upcoming movie.
"Cela se passe dans votre cinema." : A trailer for an event or promotion happening in the cinema.
"Le film suivant est notre coup de cœur." : A trailer for a movie that the cinema and viewers have loved.

Technique: CGI by Just Amazing.

Audio: A dramatic fanfare with reversed sections, with the use of a 6-note leitmotif throughout most sequences.

Availability: Seen before a film begins in Pathé and Gaumont cinemas.
