Background

MFest was a subsidary of The Movie Network. The channel specialized in foreign and independent films, as well as DisneyToon Studios' animated feature Planes. The channel was folded into the main TMN channel on March 1, 2016.

1st Logo (2003-2008)

Logo: Quickly fading in from black, at sunset, we see a film camera with four legs, standing atop several film reels. It then hops down, and slides on some filmstrip to the ground. It then looks down. After a couple seconds, we cut to the logo for MFest (which is the film chip "M" logo, with another film chip right below in periwinkle with the word "FEST" on it, contained by a white circle outline) on a blue background. After a few seconds, it flips to reveal the 2000-10 Astral Media logo on a white square. The logo then cuts to black after several seconds.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: Majestic music playing in the background, and sound effects corresponding to the actions. When the MFest logo flips to the Astral logo, a swooshing sound is heard.

Availability: Extinct on TV. Check your old tapes.

2nd Logo (2008-February 29, 2016)

Logo: We see the previous logo, except it is colored grey. It fades out, and a square resembling a film chip in grey appears. Then copies of the grey square appear one by one in spirals until one glows and the words “ Feature Presentation” appears. It then fades out.

Technique: The animated squares.

Music/Sounds: The same as The Movie Network, but with reversed pianos at the beginning instead of the usual sound effects. A violin note is heard at the end.

Availability: Again, extinct on TV, as it was either replaced by TMN 4 (timeshift feed of TMN 1) or removed forever depending on the lineup. Check your old tapes.

Legacy: This is the same variant as The Movie Network, but the squares are grey instead of blue.
