Background

This was a low-budget/bargain bin VHS outfit based in Prior Lake, Minnesota (MN). The company was purchased in 1993 by Video Treasures.

1st Logo (1989-1992)

Visuals: There is a background divided black on top and a blue-grayish vortex grid on the bottom. At the top is the white words DISTRIBUTED BY above and the shaded orange word MNTEX, along with the words Entertainment, Inc. zoom up from the grid. The company's address P.O. Box 667 Prior Lake, MN 55372 in black, fades in below.

Technique: 2D computer graphics.

Audio: A downward glissando on an organ-like synthesizer. Due to a processing error, the tail end of the music can be heard before the logo zooms up.

Availability: Seen on early releases by the company.

2nd Logo (1992-1995)

Visuals: There is the MNTEX Entertainment logo, which consists of an orange "MNTEX" in a futuristic font, and "Entertainment, Inc." in a Century Schoolbook font, sliding up underneath "Distributed By" at the top of the screen on a gray-black gradient background with what looks like an ocean below. The address "P.O. Box 667, Prior Lake, MN, 55372" fades in at the bottom of the screen.

Technique: 2D computer graphics.

Audio: Same as the first logo. In later years, it used a mystical, fast-paced synth tune.

Availability: Seen on an old B-western budget VHS as well as budget VHS copies of Zombie High, Strike Force, Maximum Force, Alien Intruder and Evil Spawn. Also showed up on a 1994 Video Treasures reprint of Izzy and Moe.
