Background

This was a low-budget/bargain bin VHS outfit based in Prior Lake, Minnesota (MN). The company was purchased in the mid-1990s by Anchor Bay Entertainment.

1st Logo (1989-1992)

Logo: We see a background divided black on top and a blue-grayish vortex grid on the bottom. At the top, we see the white words DISTRIBUTED BY above and the shaded orange word MNTEX, along with the words Entertainment, Inc. zoom up from the grid. The company's address P.O. Box 667 Prior Lake, MN 55372 in black, fades in below.

FX/SFX: Not much on animation. Cheesy Scanimation for the time.

Music/Sounds: A downwards synthesized xylophone sounder. Due to a processing error, you can hear the tail end of the music before the logo zooms up.

Availability: Extremely rare. Seen on early releases by the company.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo (1992-1995)

Logo: We see the MNTEX Entertainment logo, which consists of an orange "MNTEX" in a futuristic font, and "Entertainment, Inc." in a Century Schoolbook font, sliding up underneath "Distributed By" at the top of the screen on a gray-black gradient background with what looks like an ocean below. The address "P.O. Box 667, Prior Lake, MN, 55372" fades in at the bottom of the screen.

FX/SFX: Not much on animation, that's for sure!

Music/Sounds: Same as the first logo. In later years, it used a mystical synth tune.

Availability: Extremely rare. Might see it on an old B-western budget VHS as well as budget VHS copies of Zombie High, Strike Force, Maximum Force, Alien Intruder and Evil Spawn. Also showed up surprisingly on a 1994 Video Treasures reprint of Izzy and Moe.

Editor's Note: See the 1st Logo.
