Background
MTV Original Series was a division of MTV used for series that were made specifically for MTV itself.
1st Logo (October 1, 2000-December 11, 2008)
Visuals: Over a yellow studio-like background is the MTV logo (with "MUSIC TELEVISION" beneath it) bounce in right next to a microphone that is swinging and has an electric charge. Next to the microphone, the text "Original Series" slides in. Beneath is a MTV Networks copyright notice that fades in.
Technique: Live action.
Audio: None, the show's end theme or a electrical zapping sound.
Availability: Seen on Sausage Factory, Jackass, Clone High and the first season of Rivertington Beach (which was the last show to use this logo).
2nd Logo (2015-2021)
Visuals: On a black background, there is a yellow rectangle stretch downwards to a smaller rectangle. when it fully stretches down, the MTV logo appears on the bottom of it before finally stretches down to fit the size of the MTV logo. While all this happens, the "original series" text from the last logo (albeit lowercase) fades in.
Variant: A 60fps version is used in the 2017 reboot of Total Request Live.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: Sometimes no audio, but other times a soundbite from the episode (ala Nickelodeon Productions), the opening theme of the show or a woosh.
Availability: It was seen on older episodes of Wild 'n Out, The Challenge, Catfish, Floribama Shore, Teen Mom, Are You the One?, Ridiculousness, etc.
Legacy: This logo is a pretty memorable logo for those who watched the shows.
Final Note
Starting in 2021, newer shows and new episodes of the shows listed above are replaced with the current MTV Entertainment Studios logo.
