1st Logo (May 31, 1977-1980)
Visuals: On a black background, the Major League Baseball logo zooms out. Then the text
FILM PRODUCTION
fades in below the logo.
Variant: Sometimes, the text below the logo will look like this
PRODUCTIONS [YEAR]
Technique: Camera-controlled animation.
Audio: The closing theme of the program (in the case of This Week in Baseball, it's "Gathering Crowds", composed by Mike Vickers).
Availability: Seen on MLB programs at the time, including early episodes of the original version of This Week in Baseball.
2nd Logo (1981-1993?)
Visuals: On a black background, the outline of the Major League Baseball logo zooms in while leaving a limited ray of trails and then a white dot zooms into the bottom left corner of the logo also leaving a trail. Afterward, the colors fade into the logo and the red text
PRODUCTIONS
vertically wipes in below the logo.
Variant: Sometimes, the text below the logo will look like this
PRODUCTIONS [YEAR]
or
Technique: Slit-scan animation.
Audio: The closing theme of the program.
Availability: Seen on later episodes of This Week in Baseball.
- It was also seen at the end of a September 30, 1998 UK airing of the final episode of This Week in Baseball on Channel 5.
3rd Logo (March 19, 2002-2009?)
Visuals: A CGI version of the MLB logo zooms in on a black background. Below, the words "MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL" fade in and zoom out, emitting blue rays of light. "P R O D U C T I O N S" appears in the same fashion. Both words stop as the rays of light fade out and the MLB logo stops, and the text ends up arranged like this:
P R O D U C T I O N S
The logo shines. Copyright information blurs in below, usually during the animation.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: The closing theme of the show.
Availability: Seen on Yankeeography and Yankeeography: History of the Yankees, both of which were broadcast on the YES Network.
- It is also left intact on YES Network reruns of the shows.
- However, most episodes of Yankeeography: Moments of Glory do not use this logo nor the next one.
4th Logo (2010-2015?)
Visuals: The MLB Productions logo from before flips in over a black background. The logo then shines, and a light moves from left to right below "P R O D U C T I O N S" as copyright information appears below.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Same as before.
Audio Variant: On Yankeeography: Moments of Glory, some whoosh sounds are heard as well.
Availability: So far, seen on a 2010 Yankeeography episode and the Yankeeography: Moments of Glory episodes "Aaron Boone" and "Tino Martinez". It is also left intact on YES Network reruns of the respective episodes.
