Background

Mammoth Screen is a British television production company founded in 2007 by Michele Buck and Damien Timmer. They mainly produce dramas particularly for the BBC and ITV. The latter would purchase the company on June 1, 2015.

1st Logo (July 8, 2008-)

Visuals: There is a minimalist, rounded brown mammoth on top of the company name in a stacked format, white colour, and capitalization. The logo is seen on a surface that is turning to the bottom right to face the screen. Behind the logo is a black blueprint consisting of several lines sketching the outline of the same mammoth albeit comprised of geometric shapes. When the background finishes moving, it also darkens.

Bylines:

  • July 8, 2008-10 November 2021: None.
  • March 1, 2020-October 18, 2020: An ITV Studios company
  • February 28, 2021-July 10, 2022: PART OF ITV STUDIOS
  • February 26, 2023-: PART OF ITV STUDIOS

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the background does not darken. As a result, multiple equations and arrows can be seen on the blueprint.
  • A still version exists. This variant also presents the logo as an in-credit logo.
  • The logo, including its background, may be compressed to share the screen with other logos (including the 1997 BBC and 2013 ITV logos). In other cases, the co-producers' logo may appear within Mammoth Screen's.
    • In other cases, the logo may be cropped.
  • On World on Fire, the logo shifts upwards to make more room for the co-producers' logos and notices.
  • On McDonald & Dodds, the bottom portion of the background is cut off.
  • On the Masterpiece version of Victoria, the entire logo is in brown alongside all the other co-producers' logos and text notices.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability:

  • It appeared on numerous British television dramas throughout the 2010's, most notably Endeavour, Poldark, World on Fire, among many others. They are all easily found on home media, Masterpiece prints, and on-demand websites either from broadcasters such as BBC or ITV or streaming sites such as NRK, AMC+, and more.
  • The brighter background variant appears on Lost in Austen, Fearless, Poldark, among others.

2nd Logo (May 16, 2023-)

Visuals: The company name is in lowercase, a round font, and is seen subtly zooming out. Above it, multiple thin vertical and horizontal lines slide in while a more minimalist version of the mammoth from before fills in. The colouring on the creature and bylines are in a different shade of brown.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: It debuted on series 2 of The Tower, titled Series 2 - The Tower II: Death Message.
