Visuals: Over a black background is the following text in the Optima font: "This film has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit your TV."

Variants:

  • Old TV prints of MGM films often feature this, with the text being expanded to "formatted to fit your TV, and edited for content (and to run in the time allotted)."
  • On a syndicated print of Fargo, as seen on WDCA UPN 20 in 2001, the text is in a different font.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on some Trifecta-owned Starz movies, a few Paramount titles (e.g. USA's print of Mission: Impossible), and Sony movies. Also seen on older television prints of MGM movies, and VHS editions starting with the 1994 video release of Dangerous Game.
