Background
MetroVision was a private Malaysian television network launched on July 1, 1995. It was managed by City Television Sdn Bhd. before being sold to another owner by the end of 1996.
The channel was closed down on November 1, 1999, due to the Asian financial crisis and overcrowding from other channels and pay-TV operators. The operator promised to reopen the channel in March 2000 after a supposed "signal upgrade", which ultimately failed to materialise. It was later relaunched and rebranded as 8TV on January 8, 2004.
ID (July 1, 1995-November 1, 1999)
Visuals: The sequence starts off with a pencil drawing a picture, which is revealed to be two crescents with circles on the top of the left one and the bottom of the right one, along with a huge circle at the middle. The crescents then rise, as different-colored copies of it turns it into a stone model. A red orb rises and sets its position before the crescents get their colors, with the left turning green and the right turning blue. The screen then cuts to a space background with the crescents and the orb as a text reading "MetroVision" glows before turning solid red and setting its position below the crescents. The rest of the logo turns into solid 2D, and the stars disappear.
Variant: A variant exists where we see different shots of a group of men dressed in black playing drums before the screen cuts to a shot of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building where the screen zooms into the middle of the clock. The screen then zooms out as two big steampunk gears and a spur gear are revealed. As the red MetroVision text slides from the bottom right to the left screen, the spur gear turns into a red orb, while the steampunk gears turn into the crescents with an aquatic texture. The MetroVision text then sets its position via a trail before turning red as the crescents turn solid. The logo then shines at the end.
Technique: 3D CGI made with 3D Studio on MS-DOS.
Audio: There is a long, calm note as the pencil draws the crescents, followed by a bombastic fanfare as the crescents turn into a model. At the end, there is a group of women singing the channel's name.
Audio Variant: The drums playing, followed by a synth tune and the women singing the channel's name at the end.
