Visuals: On a black background, "MiCHAEL MANN" is seen in a stylized font, with "a" and "p r o d u c t i o n" above and below it in a smaller, less stylized font. Behind it, two screens, both with odd neon-colored shapes on them, flash multiple times. The first shows a fence-looking door with a blue squiggle to the right, and the second shows a row of lines arranged like a rectangle and a weird "splotch" thing. They eventually stop flashing, landing on the second screen.
Variants:
- On Miami Vice, the flashing is played in sync with the closing notes of the show's theme.
- On early episodes of Miami Vice, the animation is slower with different shapes appearing. It is also videotaped and noticeably shaky.
Technique: 2D (cel?) animation.
Audio: The closing theme of the show.
Audio Variant: On the second episode of Miami Vice on the U.S. Season 1 DVD, the 1982 Universal Television theme plays over it.
Availability: Seen on Miami Vice (episode 2 carries a in-credit notice for "The Michael Mann Co. Inc.") and Crime Story. These can be seen on NBC.
