Background

Miles Films is an independent Indonesian film company founded in 1990s by filmmaker Mira Lesmana, which is currently still running the company along with her long-time business partner and friend, Riri Riza, who is also the director to most of Miles' catalogue.



1st Logo (June 14, 2000)

Logo: Against a black BG, a small, out-shaped yellow TV tube icon falls onto the screen. And then an electric circuit effect appears around it, revealing "MILES" on the left (the out-shaped TV is behind the L), and "PRODUCTIONS", which in smaller font. The logo closes with a TV-style effect.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on Petualangan Sherina, which the film itself can be found in Cinekom VCD print as well as Netflix Indonesia.


2nd Logo (September 25, 2008-2009)

Logo: Just an in-credit version of the previous logo, this time in black and white, alongside the Mizan Pictures logo.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Was seen on the first two Laskar Pelangi movie, of which Miles produced.


3rd Logo (December 18, 2014-October 3, 2019)

Logo: A stop-motion painting of an Indonesian view is seen, followed by a flying yellow kite chased by a little boy. The painting zooms out later and then stops. The words "miles" with a smaller "films" right below appears under the painting.

Technique: Just a stop-motion animation mixed with CGI.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on films during the time period by Miles such as The Golden Cane Warrior.


4th Logo (November 11, 2021-)

Logo: On a black background, a line-shaped-crystal appears vertically from the bottom. It repeats its movement faster and faster as the line glows bigger. At one point the line eventually stops in the middle of the screen, the letters "mi" slides from the line to the left and "es" slides to the right, revealing the word "miles". The word "films" fades in below right after.

Technique: Simple 2D computer animation.

Music/Sounds: Whooshes as the crystal moves rapidly. Otherwise, the opening theme to the movie is heard.
