1st Logo (October 12, 1999-November 10, 2011)

Logo: In an office setting, we see a bottle filled with scarlet ink. A black label covers the bottom half, containing the company name in Impact, gold, and a stacked format. "INK" has a bottom white gradient. A split-second before the logo ends, a hammer swings down and smashes the bottle, causing the ink to spread everywhere, including covering up the whole screen.

Variant: The logo exists in both a fullscreen and widescreen format.

Technique: Live-action.

Music/Sounds: It varies, but they usually end with a glass breaking sound.

  • 1999: After the ending theme of the show, the splattering sound is heard.
  • 1999-2000: The ending theme of the show.
  • 2001-2002: None.
  • 2001-2002 (Smallville episodes "X-Ray" and "Hug"): Entirely silent.
  • February 2002-May 2002: An odd, three-note piano tune composed by Mark Snow.
  • 2002-2011: A reverberating cartoon ditty again composed by Mark Snow.
  • Original airings use a generic theme and a voice over.

Availability: Common. First seen on The Strip and was later seen on Smallville, the 2006 TV pilot of Aquaman and the 2011 reboot of Charlie's Angels.
