Background

Splash Entertainment (formerly known as MoonScoop) is a French/American animation company founded in 2003 after the merger of Antefilms Production (started in 1990) and France Animation (started in 1984). In 2013, the company went into administration and was subsequently acquired by Mike and Liz Young. On January 15, 2016, the studio released their first theatrical film, Norm of the North, which got universally negative reviews and flopped at the box office. A few months later, the company was hired to produce three additional sequels to the film Alpha and Omega.

MoonScoop

1st Logo (Code Lyoko Variant) (August 31, 2005-November 10, 2007)

Logo: Against a background of swirling blue/black lights, we see a gray crescent moon with the text "MOONSCOOP" written in the center. The lights pass through the moon and turn it from transparent into grey. The word "PRESENTS" (in whatever language the show is being broadcasted in) types itself below the logo, then it fades out and the opening intro continues.

Variant: At the end of the show, we see the MoonScoop logo, now with a yellow crescent, appear in a split-screen credit format at the left side of the screen.

Technique: The logo appearing.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on Code Lyoko starting with season 2. The closing variant was only used on season 2; later seasons have the Taffy Entertainment logo instead.

Legacy: This is a memorable logo for those young people that grew up watching Code Lyoko.

2nd Logo (2007, 2009-March 29, 2014)

Logo: We see a yellow moon on a nighttime sky background. Then the sun hits it, making an eclipse (which causes the moon to turn into a crescent). Under the crescent, we see the phrase "MoonScoop", swirling from the left to the center. After the swirling of the MoonScoop phrase, the phrase shines.

Variants:

There was also a still variant on a white background.
On some shows, the still variant shares its' screen via split-screen with other production logos.

Technique: The sun hitting the moon, the swirling of the phrase, and the shining of the phrase. None for the still version.

Music/Sounds: An explosion sound, followed by a synthesized shimmer. Most programs from MoonScoop at around this time had the show's ending theme playing instead, or just silence.

Availability: Uncommon. It's seen on Titeuf: Le film, The Twisted Whiskers Show, Gasp! (TV series), Zevo-3, Quest for Zhu, season 2 of Chloe's Closet, season 3 of Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures, The DaVincibles, season 2 of Dive Olly Dive!, season 2 of Hero: 108, early episodes of season 1 of Lalaloopsy (TV series), later episodes of Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot, My Phone Genie, and early episodes of Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch. The white background version is relatively common and can be seen on seasons 1 and 2 of Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures, Dive Olly Dive! and the Pirate Treasure, season 1 of Wild Grinders, later episodes of season 1 of Hero: 108, season 2 of Pet Alien, and early episodes of Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot, as well as the Pet Alien game for the Nintendo DS.

Legacy: This logo is very memorable to those who grew up with the shows and the movies it appeared on.

Splash Entertainment

1st Logo (April 5, 2014-February 5, 2016)

Logo: Only just the still Splash Entertainment print logo on a off white background seen at the end of animated shows that are coming from (or produced by or distributed by) the latter company.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the show.

Availability: Can be seen on later episodes of Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch, season 4 of Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures, as well as Care Bears and Cousins.

2nd Logo (January 15, 2016- )

Logo: We start out on a light blue background, then the camera zooms out to reveal that there is an "S" in a bubble. The other letters in bubbles from the word "Splash" come together on a grey burst with "Entertainment" under the word "Splash". The whole logo is on water, and ripples come out of the water after the logo is finished forming.

Variants:

Sometimes, the logo is brighter.
On TV shows like Kulipari: An Army of Frogs, Kulipari: DreamWalker, and We're Lalaloopsy, the logo is sped up.
A rare variant exists where the text

is on the background.

On Norm of the North: King Sized Adventure, one of the lemmings from the franchise swims laps around the logo.

Technique: The bubbles floating, the logo forming, and the water ripples, all in decent CGI, done by Double Plus Good and Jonathan Winbush.

Music/Sounds: A majestic orchestral fanfare is used on movies, while TV shows use twinkling throughout the logo, bubbling and whooshing when the bubbles are floating, and splashing when the logo is formed. Otherwise, it's the opening/ending theme of the movie/show.

Availability: Seen on Norm of the North and its' sequels, the rest of the Dive Olly Dive! movies, All I Want for Christmas is You (film), Rock Dog 2: Rock Around the Park, as well as the last three Alpha and Omega movies, Kulipari: An Army of Frogs, Kulipari: DreamWalker, and We're Lalaloopsy.
