Background

MovieVision was a subscription television movie channel that launched sometime during the start of the 1980s. In 1983, the channel was replaced with ON TV.

ID (1982?-1983)

Visuals: Either of these two happen:

  • Against a black background, the screen zooms into a television screen. We then fly above a movie ticket with the company's logo on it, and popcorn kernels popping out of a popcorn box. The screen then zooms towards pairs of film reels colored red, yellow, green, and blue, which move away. We then see a film projector in action, and the screen zooms in towards the light emitted by the projector.
  • Against an orange background, the screen zooms out to see a silhouette of a man using a motion picture camera. We then see a director on his chair holding a megaphone while calling someone, two people preparing equipment for filming, a woman speaking her line from the script paper she is holding into a boom mic, multiple more men preparing equipment for filming, a woman in a big skirt turning around, the same director from before, facing his palms towards someone, a sheriff pointing out a gun, a woman showing off two katanas, two men seeing another wiping his ribbon-shaped weapon, a woman running from a man flapping a flat object at her, a man with a hat and a cigarette clapping a clapperboard, the man from the beginning riding with his camera, and finally a shot of a man pointing a spotlight towards the camera, flashing towards the screen.

The sequence then fades to a scene where multiple shapes fly in to form "MV" and briefly emit a flash. The two letters then move away from each other to form the logo (with the "i" changed to resemble a filmstrip and a film reel in place of the "o"), as four bars bent to have three sides colored blue, pink, maroon, and lavender respectively, fly in and settle under the logo, and a gold light forms behind the logo. The logo shoots multiple small lights towards different positions of the top of the screen, as it shines several times.

Technique: Live action and Scanimate.

Audio: A tuba and horn fanfare with an announcer saying "This is a MovieVision feature presentation." at the end.
