Background

Myers's Rum Video Network was a music nightclub network founded by Edgar Bronfman, Jr. (the current CEO of the Warner Music Group) in 1986, after he took over his family's liquor business "Seagram's" and was also obsessed with music at the time.

Cowboy (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a cartoon desert, complete with a bar, a person with yellow clothes, orange pants, yellow shoes and a green sunglasses, a palm tree holding a Myers's Rum logo (which consists of the Earth with a 3D "MYERS'S RUM" with a ring circling the Earth between and a sans-serif, tall "VIDEO NETWORK" below it) from a string, a cactus at the left, a desert mountains from a far and a large Myers's Rum bottle with a single holding an orange arrow pointing at the right. The man in the left of the bar prepares as he filled the 2 glasses with a Myers's Rum bottle. As it's preparing, a white cloud suddenly appears at the left of it, which soon got bigger and reveals to be a cowboy (wearing purple shirt, jeans, and brown shows) being ridden by a cartoon horse. The cowboy then walks and holds the water along with the horse at the right. The cowboy woohoos as it raises the glass.

Audio: A "woo-hoo" voice.

Wrecking Ball (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over an orange room with a painting of a beach being hanged on frame, a pink couch facing to the right, a green table holding an orange lamp with a cable being plugged, there is a construction worker (wearing an orange hat, blue outfit and a brown boots) riding a Myers's Rum logo suddenly bursts as the object flies around. The construction worker gets off the logo and informs that he's home.

Technique: 2D cel animation by Joey Ahlbum.

Audio: A bursting noise, glass shattering noise, and a voice "Honey I'm home!".

Ride (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a sky background, there is a Myers's Rum logo with a gray metal stick below being hold by a blue hand with black arms below. The logo's orbit is atttached by 7 metal sticks that's attached to the orange chair where a yellow creature is riding as the orbit turns counter-clockwise. The screen then slowly zooms in.

Technique: 2D cel animation.

Audio: A screaming noises.

Ciga-doodle-SHOOT (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a yellow/green patterned background, there is a computerized Myers's Rum logo. The screen pans up as the top portion of it opens, revealing a vintage man wearing a suit and smoking a cigarette pops up. The man moves and after that, the logo pans down while the top portion closing in.

Technique: 2D computer animation and live-action.

Audio: A rooster's cockle-doodle-doo followed by a bang noise.

Golf (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a green plains with a clear sky, there is a Myers's Rum logo above 2 golfers (female at the left, male at the right, all wearing orange sunglasses, orange shirt, blue plaid skirt/pants with orange shoes) and a golf course (which contains a white slide, a Myers's rum bottle being spilled at the top of a rock, which spoils into a glass with ice cubes and have a flag pole, with a yellow flag reading a red "18" and a golf hole at the bottom of it). The female golfer holds the golf club while the male golfer plays golf. The man says "Eh" as it hits the golf ball. The golf balls moves inside the hole at the bottom part of the Myers's rum bottle and go through it. After that, the golf ball flies downwards to the glass and eventually through it. As the golf ball goes through the hole at the bottom of the glass, the golf ball goes inside the golf hole, which when goes inside, a Myers's rum splash is seen below. The woman says "Nice shot!" as they all grin.

Audio: A man saying "Eh", flying noises, and a woman saying "Nice shot!".

Mouth (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a white/blue gradient background, there is a Myers's Rum Video Network logo being hold by a black-arm/yellow-hand being pointed upwards. There is a yellow cyclops creature (wears a white shirt with a Myers's Rum Video Network logo) with green arms, yellow hands, green legs, purple/white shoes raising a glass of Myers's rum. The yellow creature extends their mouth rightwards, revealing pointy teeth as it dips the glass of Myers's Rum to the mouth. As it returns back, the top part is opened as the white bubbled speech with a lips suddenly appears and the creature eye looks to the left. The lips had their tongue moving left and right.

Audio: A steel scratching noise, splash noise, opening noise, and a single drop noise.

Shirt (1986-1987)

Visuals: There is a Myers's Rum bottle filling a glass with Myers's Rum. It then zooms out, revealing more of those as part of the shirt being worn by a man with long blonde hair (being flown), wears green sunglasses and had a grin. The sky is pink/light pink gradient with 2 clouds and the Myers's Rum Video Network logo is at the left of the man.

Audio: Water filling noises and a long wind-like sound.

Machine (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a pink/white background, there is a Myers's Rum Video Network at the center. There is a yellow machine-like stand attaching to the top that has a orange robotic arms holding a Myers's Rum, another orange robotic arms at the top-right, a bucket of ices at the bottom-right. The glass emerges from the bottom of the Earth as the orbit moves clockwise,. The glass is first stopped, being filled with ice by an orange robotic arm grabbing the ice from th bucket and put it in the glass. The second stop for the glass is when the robotic arm that attached to the top of the Earth filled the glass with Myers's Rum. The third and final stop is where the person's arm (first with a blue rose-patterned sleeve and a yellow watch and a pink hammer-like-patterned sleeve and a yellow ring around it) holding a glass of Myers's Rum. This repeats 3 times.

Audio: Cartoony machine noises.

Kicking Wheel (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a brown/orange/brown gradient, there is a computerized Myers's Rum logo. The bottom part then opens (similar to the Ciga-doodle-SHOOT ident), where a live-action person is seen cranking counter-clockwise on a machine with a four-spoke shoes at the right moving clockwise, kicking a person's bottom. The man sees at the right as it does. The logo then closes.

Technique: 2D computer animation and live-action.

Audio: Opening noises, cartoony whistle and "Ouch!" being looped.

Bouncing (1986-1987)

Visuals: Over a clear sky background with a white land, there is a Myers's Rum Video Network logo bouncing from the left. The screen pans rightwards. As it reaches the end, there is a white glass filled with Myers's Rum at the right. The Myers's Rum Video Network logo bounces off the edge and dips into the glass revealing a woman with yellow ring earings, a patterned shirt holding a Myers's Rum glass. Her tongue moves left and right.

Technique: 2D cel animation.

Audio: Boing noises and splash noises.

Flashing/Zooming (1986-1987)



Visuals: On a pink background, there is a sketch of a hand spinning a globe, with rings around it, and the blue text "MYERS" on the top, "RUM" below it, and "Video Network" on the bottom. The logo flashes, inverting the colors on each flash, and zooms into the screen. The cycle repeats, but with the background and globe flashing from red to yellow, and the text yellow to red, and then from yellow to blue. Then, it cycles through all three color schemes.

Technique: Camera controlled animation.

Audio: A dramatic series of cymbal hits.
