Background
NBC Weather Plus was a television network owned by NBCUniversal that was dedicated to weather and meteorology and was a competitor of The Weather Channel. Launched on November 15, 2004, NBCUniversal announced its intention to phase the network out after NBC affiliates expressed their desire for the service to close. The national network would shut down on December 31, 2008, with local stations affiliated with the network being discontinued over the years, the final one to be discontinued being WVIR-TV when they switched to WeatherNation in 2015.
Logo (November 15, 2004-December 31, 2008)
Visuals: On a deep blue background of clouds rolling across the sky, the NBC Peacock appears and turn to face forward from the right side of the screen. The peacock fades away and the text "Weather PLUS", which has a plus symbol to its side, appears in a similar fashion. The NBC logo focuses above it as the word "PLUS" becomes black and rests on a white-gradient bar, while the plus symbol becomes blue and thin white lines come from all four of its sides. A blue-tinted rectangle containing footage of rain falling slides in from the right, and the peacock's tail feathers flash white one-by-one and from left-to-right, synced up to the music. A larger, transparent version of the peacock is also seen in the background.
Variants: One variant lacks the flashing of the peacock's feathers.
Technique: CGI coupled with live-action footage.
Audio: A news-type theme that is followed by a six-note tune sounding similar to the NBC jingle that the flashing is synced up to.
Availability: Seen periodically on NBC Weather Plus's national feed and affiliate stations.
