Background

Around 1994 or early 1995, Family Entertainment Network was renamed Nest Family Entertainment.

1st Logo (June 17, 1995-November 6, 2012)

Logo: On a black background, we see several gold lights forming gold bars that form a nest over the screen. Then the word "N E S T" slides in over it and takes its place at the bottom of the screen as a gradient shade of green fades in. The logo and its name shine.

Variants:

  • There is another version of the logo, used on later releases. The animation is improved, and after the logo is formed, it zooms out as the tagline "Because it all begins at home" appear below it, in script. The background is black here, and the color is goldenrod.
    • On some videos, the logo would animate as usual, but does not zoom out to make room for the tagline and the ® symbol was replaced by the TM symbol.
    • Another version has the logo zoom out after the animation finishes but the tagline is omitted.
  • This logo exists in filmed and videotaped versions.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A majestic fanfare with various twinkles and whooshes composed by Lex de Azevedo.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On the original VHS release of The Swan Princess, the original version is silent.
  • On some videos, there exists a different fanfare with reused twinkles and whooshes.

Availability: The logo appeared first on the American VHS of The Swan Princess, while the R2 DVD releases have the film's original New Line Cinema logo (the latter only had theatrical distribution rights, while Nest currently holds video rights through Sony Pictures Home Entertainment). The later version can be seen on The Swan Princess 2 and 3, and made its last appearance on The Swan Princess Christmas. It also appears on Animated Stories from the New Testament and Animated Hero Classics, including newer prints of older episodes, and on Tricky People.

2nd Logo (February 25, 2014-)

Logo: On a white background, three black twigs, with the last one having a branch, fall from the top and form what is supposed to be a nest. "NEST" pops up letter-by-letter. A copyright mark rolls in and bumps into the "T" before settling. "Family" fades in below, and a green leaf pops up on the third twig's branch.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Music/Sounds: The film's opening theme.

Availability: Seen on newer films, such as The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale and The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today.
