Background
Noel Gay Television was an independent production company that was founded in 1987 as a division of Noel Gay Agency, by Paul Jackson (who was also founder of Paul Jackson Productions, and later of Carlton Television) and Alex Armitage. The company was split off from the agency in 2000.
1st Logo (1987-1990)
Visuals: On a white background, there are four boxes, one box is red with the letter "N", one box is yellow with the letter "G", one box is green with the letter "T" and one box is blue with the letter "V", forming the letters "NGTV" on boxes. Below it was the words "NOEL GAY TELEVISION".
Variants:
- Sometimes, station info is shown below the logo.
- On The Disney Christmas Special, the text which reads "in association with" are below the logo.
Technique: A still, computerized graphic.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme.
Availability: Seen on Just for Laughs, the second season of Don't Miss Wax, Morris Minor's Marvellous Motors, and The Disney Christmas Special.
2nd Logo (1990-1995)
Visuals: On a white background, there is a half-circle on the left composed of vertical lines. A curved line wipes the half-circle away and curves around in a circle as it zooms out, causing several shapes and flashing colors to form. This eventually ends with a brown/blue circle with a white/blue center and a red N and black G arranged diagonally, all at the top of the screen. "NOEL GAY TELEVISION" appears below.
Variants:
- On Heil Honey I'm Home and Up Yer Festival, the words "for BRITISH SATELLITE BROADCASTING" appears below as well, along with a BSB copyright date.
- On Pallas, a simple copyright date is shown below the logo.
- Sometimes, the logo is still.
- On Dave Allen, the logo is in-credit, and the words below reads "A Noel Gay Television Production for Carlton Television", along with a copyright date.
- On an unknown programme, this logo appears with the text reading "Noel Gay Television Production for CARLTON" (with Carlton being in its form of the 1993 logo). The copyright notice also reads "© Carlton Television 1994" which appears at the bottom left of the screen and the 1989 ITV logo appears on the bottom right of the screen.
Technique: 2D computer animation.
Audio: A fast-paced thumping synth tune ending in a dramatic orchestral chord.
Audio Variant: Sometimes, the logo is silent or has the ending theme play over it.
Availability: Only known to be seen on the ill-fated TV pilot Heil Honey I'm Home.
