Background:

Oddworld Inhabitants is a video game company started in 1994 whose sole output so far has been titles in the Oddworld franchise. They have hoped to make an animated movie called Citizen Siege (which would have been their first non-Oddworld creative output in any form) and some games in said film's universe, but all were scrapped, and OI was closed in 2005 following the failure of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and the problems in development on Electronic Arts' part. However, in 2009, OI was resurrected with the help of Just Add Water, Ltd. and has continued to produce games since.

1st Logo (September 18, 1997)

Logo: On a hieroglyphics wall, the logo, a glass purple O with a yellow W in front, fades in. "ODDWORLD INHABITANTS" wipes itself above this. This fades out.

Technique: The fading and wiping.

Music/Sounds: A timpani hit leading into an ominous orchestral bass line (which is actually "Unearthly Visit" from Zero-G's Cuckooland: Ghost in the Machine off the Altered States sample library) and a whooshing sound.

Availability: Only on Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

2nd Logo (November 17, 1998)

Logo: We see the OW symbol silhouetted in a green, aquatic environment with bubbles at the top. The silhouette slowly starts to fade into the logo proper. Bubbles on the top form a waving "ODDWORLD INHABITANTS" which settles. The entire screen is shortly after engulfed by a water effect.

Technique: The bubbles, text, and water.

Music: Same as last logo, but muffled and with bubble sounds. When the screen is engulfed a large bubbling is heard.

Availability: Seen on Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus.

3rd Logo (1998-2000)

Logo: On a black or white background, we see the Oddworld Inhabitants logo in monochrome or in color. It shares the screen with the GT Interactive Software and Saffire Corporation logos.

Technique: None or the bubbles.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on Oddworld Adventures 1 & 2, both for Game Boy Color.

4th Logo (November 15, 2001)

Logo: During the opening of the game, we see the glass OW symbol inside a wooden ring with the company name on it. The symbol has light in it, almost making it act like a lightbulb. The logo pans upward to continue with the opening.

Technique: Complete CGI.

Music/Sounds: The opening of the game.

Availability: Rare. Seen only on Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee.

5th Logo (January 25, 2005, July 22, 2014)

Logo: We see the Oddworld Inhabitants logo as some characters from the game run on it. Light passes on the logo and then it fades out.

Technique: The turn, running and fade.

Music/Sounds: A held synth note and a sound like a bell jangling like a western introduction.

Availability: Seen on Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. A still version of this logo also appears on Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty!, the first game after their hiatus.
