On November 1, 2000, Pacific Century CyberWorks, a Hong Kong-based company acquired Jaleco to become the Japanese division of the company, which was renamed to PCCW Japan. In 2001, it had acquired the VR-1 Group, and expanded their operations globally. In 2002, PCCW Japan merged two American subsidiaries into Jaleco Entertainment, while PCCW Japan has reverted to the Jaleco moniker in 2004.
