Background

Padmini Pictures was an Indian film company that was created by B. R. Panthulu and P. Neelakantan most likely in the early 1950s. They have produced 57 films in Kannada and Tamil. It was closed in 1976.

1st Logo (April 13, 1954-October 3, 1958)

Logo: On a black background, we see a white circle. In front of a circle, we see a silhouette of a woman with a fez on her head, sitting seemingly holding something. Then shortly after the logo started, we see the text 'PADMINI PICTURES' fade in below the woman. Throughout the entire logo, we see smoke moving in the background.

FX/SFX: The text fading in and the smoke in the background.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Music/Sounds Variants: On Kalyanam Panniyum Brahmachari and Modala Thedi, the logo is silent.

Availability: Seen on Kalyanam Panniyum Brahmachari (1954), Modala Thedi (1955), Thangamalai Ragasiyam (1957), School Master (1958) and Sabaash Meena (1958), all of which are available on YouTube.

Legacy: Some areas of the text can be hard to see as they are very underexposed.

2nd Logo (May 10, 1959-August 21, 1976)

Logo: On a sunburst background we see a woman in a pedestal, having "PADMINI PICTURES" below the pedestal. The light then illuminates the woman. Afterwards, there are petals that are blown out of the woman's hands as the logo fades to black.

Variants:

• Some of the movies are in colour whilst others are in black and white. The ones in colour have different tints from one another.
• On a digitally restored version of Aayirathil Oruvan, the pedestal is omitted and cropped, and the Tamil text "Padmini Pictures" simply fading in.
• A colorized version exists on a 2010's restoration of Bale Pandiya!.

FX/SFX: The lights and the wind blowing both the petals off the woman's hand and the ornaments in the woman's clothing.

Music/Sounds: A peaceful melody.

Music/Sounds Variants:

• Sometimes the music is more lower-pitched.
• A rearranged version of the music exists on restored versions of Veerapandiya Kattabomman and Aayirathil Oruvan.

Legacy: On some variants, the text appears to be overexposed in some areas.
