Background

Papaya Studio was an independent American video game developer based in Irvine, California. It was founded in 1999 and went defunct in 2013. Papaya released titles for the Xbox 360, Wii, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS.

1st Logo (December 19, 2000)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a green papaya with the words "PAPAYA STUDIO" underneath it in black along with the URL "www.papayastudio.com" below that.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Only seen on Top Gear: Dare Devil for PlayStation 2.

2nd Logo (November 5, 2002)

Visuals: On a black background, a green papaya comes into view and hits the screen causing it to turn into an orange splat with a green outline and drip down the screen with the text "PAPAYA STUDIO" in yellow with a black outline.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A whoosh sound followed by a splat sound when the papaya hits the screen, along with a high-pitched voice saying "Papaya".

Availability: Only seen on Whirl Tour for PlayStation 2 and GameCube.

3rd Logo (July 29, 2006-November 15, 2011)


Visuals: On a white background, there is a yellow papaya moving from the right-middle before it stops. Then it jumps upward and drops back down to reveal the word "pap ya" in teal, while the papaya turns into a stylized yellow outline of itself drawn to look like an "a", the word turns 2D and the words "STUDIO" fades in also.

Variant: On later games, the "papaya" text is thinner.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Various sounds, with a "WHOOSH" sound launching the papaya, and a boing sound is heard with "pap ya" landing on. A shining sound is heard when the papaya changes to "a" and "STUDIO" fades in and a fanfare is heard.

Availability: First appeared on LarryBoy and the Bad Apple and last appeared on Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion.
