Background

The Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN) was the state agency that funded and supported public television stations in the state of Pennsylvania, these include WHYY, WITF, WLVT, WPSU, WQED, WQLN and WVIA. The funding was eliminated in 2009 and got transferred to the Public Television Technology appropriation in the Executive Offices (Office of Administration). Ever since the defunct happened, the motif of the state agency has been revived as Pennsylvania PBS.

1st Logo (1973?-19??)

Visuals: We see on a black background, a lot of small pieces with the PPTN logo on each of the pieces quickly wipe in and form into the shape of the Pennsylvania state. Below it, the word "Pennsylvania Public Television Network" appears in-sync with the music letter-by-letter. And after that, the PPTN logo from one of the pieces on the left of the state zooms in to the center.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A funky 70s synth tune with 4-synthesized note that is in-sync with the letter appearing, a wobbly synth tune when the logo zooms in, and a loud "DING" sound when the logo finally stays in the center.

Availability: It has only been seen on Who is Tracy Williams?.

Legacy: This logo is well-liked within the logo community.
