Background
This is the vanity card of Richard Appel, a writer and producer for series such as Family Guy, American Dad!, and The Cleveland Show.
1st Logo (February 4, 2003-2006)
-
Pre-broadcast pilot version
Visuals: There is a closeup of a greenish-gray court background (likely the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse in New York City) merging together into frame, as the company name in a stacked serif font tilts and settles into frame with a shadow behind. As the background quickly merges, it suddenly turns gray.
Variant: On the pre-broadcast pilot of A.U.S.A., a different court background is used as it slowly zooms in, while the name (in a different serif font) blurs in.
Technique: Digital 2D animation.
Audio: None or the closing theme. Original NBC airings used a generic theme and a voiceover.
Availability: Seen on A.U.S.A. on NBC and the failed pilot of My Ex Life.
2nd Logo (September 27, 2009-May 19, 2013)
Visuals: On a black background, there is a spotlight. Inside the spotlight is a detective holding a magnifying glass, with his shadow behind him. Part of his face can be seen except his eyes. On the left, there is the text "PERSONS UNKNOWN" in a bold font, and the text "PRODUCTIONS™" underneath it in a thin font.
Technique: A still, digital graphic.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen on The Cleveland Show on Fox.
