Pre-broadcast pilot version
Logo: We see a closeup of a greenish-gray court background (which must be the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse in New York City, New York) merging together into frame, as the stacked serif text "PERSONS UNKNOWN PRODUCTIONS" tilts and settles into frame with a shadow behind. As the background quickly merges, it suddenly turns gray.
Variant: On the pre-broadcast pilot of A.U.S.A., a different court background is used as it slowly zooms in, while the name (in a different serif font) blurs in.
Technique: Digital 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: None or the closing theme. Original NBC airings used a generic theme and a voiceover.
Availability: Seen on A.U.S.A. and the failed pilot of My Ex Life.
Legacy: Not really well-known as the one below, due to its obscurity.
2nd Logo (September 27, 2009-May 19, 2013)
Logo: On a black background, there is a spotlight. Inside the spotlight is a detective holding a magnifying glass, with his shadow behind him. Part of his face can be seen except his eyes. On the left, there is the text "PERSONS UNKNOWN" in a bold font, and the text "PRODUCTIONS™" underneath it in a thin font.
Technique: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Seen on The Cleveland Show.
Legacy: A favorite among fans of the series. It's an interesting concept overall, although the subject matter could scare some people.
