Background
In February 2017, Universal Music Group (owned by French media conglomerate Vivendi S.A. and unaffiliated with Universal Pictures since 2004) revived the PolyGram name for UMG's new film and television unit called PolyGram Entertainment.
Logo (September 15, 2016-)
Visuals: There is the text "polygram" in a bold font, with "ENTERTAINMENT" in a smaller, spaced-out font below, both in white on a black background. Sometimes, a byline saying "A UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP COMPANY" (or "A UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP PARTNER") will be below it.
Variants:
- The logo may be either smaller or zoomed in.
- Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.
- An animated version exists, where it shows vinyl record covers flipping in with a shadow of the logo while the camera rotates to the logo's center. The finished product is glitchy, and then it flashes.
Technique: A still, digital graphic. CGI for the animated version.
Audio: Either a strange guitar tune with the sound of the amplifier, none or the theme from any given soundtrack.
Availability: Seen on non-digital prints of The Beatles: Eight Days a Week. Also appeared on Pavarotti, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on NBC, Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas on The Roku Channel and Beastie Boys Story, the latter of which was released on Apple TV+. The animated version appears on The Go-Go's on Showtime, as well as other films by the company.
