Background

Portman Film & Television (formerly Portman Entertainment) was a television production company that was formed by Victor Glynn in 1984. In 1993, it purchased Zenith Entertainment, only to be split off a year later. In 2006, it was sold to Digital Rights Group, becoming the company's first acquisition.

1st Logo (1998-2000)

Logo: On a cream background, we see a "P. The word "Portman" writes over the letter in script, and then the word "ENTERTAINMENT" fades in below the logo.

Variant: A still version exists.

FX/SFX: The text writing.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on some television movies, like Rosamunde Plitcher's Coming Home and Nancherrow.

2nd Logo (2000-2006)

Nickname: "Oceanside Script “P”"

Logo: On a CGI nighttime ocean water (in blue), the letter “P” slowly fades in, bluing, A shadow appears behind the “P”. a blue-white light writes out a cursive “Portman” and a line of streaks form the word “ENTERTAINMENT” on the bottom.

Variant: A shortened version exists.

FX/SFX: The CGI ocean ripple waves, the “P” fading in, the script light effects and the words zooming out.

Music/Sounds: Silent.

Availability: Common. Seen on films like Saving Grace. The short version was seen on old episodes of Doc Martin.

3rd Logo (2006-2010)

Logo: On a black background, we see the text "Portman" in a multi-colored font. Above it on the top right is the word "FILM & TELEVISION" in a multi-colored font.

Variant: Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None or the end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on various Portman shows, like Doc Martin, Kingdom and Sea Patrol.
