Background

Powerhouse Animation Studios is an animation studio based in Austin, Texas. The company signed a first-look deal with Netflix in 2021.

1st Logo (2012-)

Visuals: On a yellow background, there is a drawing of a black factory with a smoke cloud above it, surrounded by a red-outline. Below it, there is the text "POWERHOUSE ANIMATION" in a stacked fashion, with a registered trademark symbol next to "POWERHOUSE"

Variants: Multiple custom variants exist themed around certain shows the company produced:

  • Season 1 of Castlevania features their regular, animated logo, except that the final product is now blood red.
  • Season 2 of Castlevania has the logo on a yellow banner in a dark, castle hallway full of candles. A sprite rendition of Trevor Belmont walks in front of the banner, jumps up, and whips[1] a candle, causing a heart to float down into Trevor. He then assumes an idle stance. Castlevania: Nocturne features an almost identical logo, except that a rendition of Richter Belmont appears in place of Trevor.
  • Blood of Zeus has the regular logo, but it is now carved onto marble, the text is in Greek script, the factory is replaced with an Ancient Greek structure, fire is burning beneath the logo with ashes floating around, the smokestack is gone, and the cloud now has a lightning bolt.

Technique: A still, digital graphic. 2D animation on Season 1 of Castlevania, and sprite animation for Castlevania Season 2-4/Castlevania: Nocturne.

Trivia: Trevor and Richter's sprites in the Castlevania variants are based on Richter's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night sprites.

Audio: The closing theme of the show.

Audio Variants: Depends on the custom theme.

  • Castlevania Season 1 has quick, tense orchestral music. Season 2-4 and Castlevania: Nocturne feature a video game-style cover of the former, accompanied by the whip and heart sound effects from the original Castlevania game.

Availability: First appeared on The Adventures of Kid Danger. Also appears on Castlevania, Blood of Zeus, Castlevania: Nocturne, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and other shows.

  1. The whip is made of leather on the first episode of Season 2; starting with Episode 2 of Season 2, the whip is made of chain. This is referencing how, in the games, the whip turns to chain as it gets stronger, and also how Trevor found the Morning Star in the Belmont Hold. On Nocturne, the whip has reverted to leather.
