Background

Qanorooq is a news broadcasting company in Greenland, and is the main news broadcaster of KNR TV. The company was first founded somewhere in the late 1980s.



1st (known) Intro (September 1, 1989-Early 1990s)


Visualsː Against stock footage of Greenland is the text "QANOROOQ" blinking slowly. A blue line at the side is also shown blinking. A man is revealed aiming a rifle before the footage cuts to another footage of Greenland and the same footage in first-person (where a boat is a token place).

Technique: Live action footage mixed with computer animation.

Audioː Somewhat groovy music with a synth piece involved.

2nd Intro (1990s)


Visualsː Against a black background, a globe of Earth is shown at the north part, showing parts of the United States, Canada, Greenland, Europe, and Northern Russia. The text "QANOROOQ" zooms out. Afterwards, the text reverses and does the same zooming as the camera zooms closer to Greenland.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audioː Starting with two synth notes, a synth music with bells play throughout the intro.

3rd Intro (1997?-2003)

Visualsː The logo starts with footage of Greenland, varying from a building to footage of a rocket launching, while a conjoined coin with the map of Greenland and a stick in a gold color spins to the center. As the shape spins, another gold stick flies towards the coin and settles behind said coin. The coin jitters, resulting the stick to become the text "QANOROOQ" and places itself below the coin.

Technique: CGI and live action.

Audioː An instrumental fanfare.

4th Intro (2003-2009)

Visualsː Against a map of Greenland is "QANOROOQ" in silver appear. Then a fancy "Q" in silver appears.

Technique: CGI.

Audioː A rock guitar tune.

5th Intro (2009-2012)

Visualsː There is a map of Greenland spinning and placing itself in the "Q" from the last intro in yellow. The "Q" shines and moves upwards.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audioː Same as the last intro.

6th Intro (2012-2015)

Visualsː Against a blue background is the current CGI globe spinning and the blue text "QANOROOQ" shows right in front of the globe.

Technique: CGI.

Audioː Unknown.

7th Intro (2015-)


Visualsː There is a CGI globe in different colors than the last intro spinning with 2 rings around the globe spinning. Then a rectangle with "Qanorooq" appears.
