Note: Not to be confused with the Filipino film company Regal Entertainment Inc. (Regal Films).

Background

Regal Films was a venture between Raymond Wong and Steven Lo. They produced a few films before Lo and Wong separated and started bringing out other projects.

Regal Films Distribution

(1990?-1993)

Nicknames: "Theater Masks from Hong Kong", "Comedy/Drama Masks (from Hong Kong)", "Happy/Sad Masks (from Hong Kong)"

Logo: On a moving light ray background with the colors blue and purple being dominant, a rounded star zooms in. Other stars in a tiny size also appear zooming in. A comedy/happy theater mask fades in, turning to us. As the star and comedy mask move to the top-right corner, a drama/sad mask appears crossing inside the rounded star and placing itself at the left of the other mask. Chinese text appears from below and move up, and rotate to face the left. The words "REGAL FILMS DISTRIBUTION LTD." appear below the Chinese text, along with a very small version of the next logo in cyan on the left.

FX/SFX: Everything, all made with CGI.

Music/Sounds: A majestic synth fanfare.

Availability: This logo appeared on distributed films by Regal in Hong Kong, such as Girls Without Tommorow 1992.

Regal Films

(1993-1994)

Logo: We see a metallic square that almost covers half of the screen. A beam appears from behind and carves two Chinese letters, as the square moves behind and places itself at a more far place. As the Chinese letters are carved, a flash burst appears behind the metallic square, turning it to gold. The word "REGAL" appears below the square. Doing so, the Chinese and English names also fade in below them.

FX/SFX: CGI that looks nice from a Hong Kong logo at the time.

Music/Sounds: A whoosh, then a fanfare.

Availability: Appeared on films made by Regal.
