Background
Relic Entertainment is a Canadian strategy game developer founded in Vancouver in 1997, famous for their successful Warhammer 40,000 series (based off Games Workshop's tabletop wargame of the same name). Relic was bought by THQ on April 27, 2004 and sold to Sega on January 22, 2013 as part of THQ's bankruptcy.
1st Logo (September 28, 1999)
Logo: We rise up by a chain holding an ancient underwater mine. The logo is placed on a metal plate on its side. Then it zooms out to show the mine itself floating in the deep.
Variant: On the demo version of Homeworld, just the still banner appears.
FX/SFX: The animation in the logo, which looks amateur.
Music/Sounds: A somber underwater soundtrack.
Availability: Seen on Homeworld.
Editor's Note: None.
2nd Logo (January 7, 2003-March 11, 2010)
Logo: Same as before, but accurately redone with more details. The water also looks greenish.
Variant: In 2006, the animation was slightly altered; it misses the first few seconds, is sped-up and overall looks more similar to the 1st logo.
FX/SFX: Much better animation than before.
Music/Sounds: Same as before.
Availability: Seen on Impossible Creatures, Homeworld 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. The later variant is seen on Company of Heroes and Dawn of War II (along with its expansion, Chaos Rising).
Editor's Note: None.
3rd Logo (September 6, 2011-)
Logo: The Relic logo banner appears over hot rocks, emitting fire sparks as we pan over.
FX/SFX: The whole animation in the logo.
Music/Sounds: Fire and blasting sounds.
Availability: Seen on Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine, Company of Heroes 2 and Dawn of War III.
Editor's Note: None.
