Background
RenderWare is the massively-used game engine developed by Criterion Studios.
1st Logo (1999-2000)
The video of this logo may be too loud or severely distorted. |
Logo: On a white background, a C-shaped row of yellow balls appears moving on and surrounded by another row of red balls, which just fade in. Then "RenderWare" appears inside the cut by ripple effect and "3" is blasted next in gray font.
Variant: There is a still prototype variant where the color rings face down and have 3D effect. The name is placed below.
Technique: Balls moving in and logo rippling.
Music/Sounds: A clanking electronic beat, then a rather loud whoosh. The still variant is silent.
Availability: Rare. The animated version can be seen on Aqua Aqua for PS2. The still version appeared on TrickStyle.
2nd Logo (2001-2002)
Logo: On a blue background, three colored shapes appear, each accompanied with a name of a Renderware core, which dissolves immediately. Blue comes first with Graphics, green with Audio and pink with Physics. Then the figure zooms out and "RenderWare" in a black, shiny font, appears below. There is also "PLATFORM" below.
Variant: There are still variants. One of them has the yellow background, another has black background and is missing "PLATFORM". On Grand Theft Auto 3, the logo has a fade in effect on a black background with the "PLATFORM" text.
Technique: Three shapes making in.
Music/Sounds: Three chimes followed by electronic whoosh.
Music/Sounds Variant: On a PS2 copy of Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights, the logo is silent.
Availability: Rare. Appeared on the first Burnout, City Crisis and on MegaRace 3, among others. Black-background version was seen on Frank Herbert's Dune.
3rd Logo (2002-)
Logo: Over a white or black background, the silver relief word "RenderWare" zooms out faster and stops.
Variant:
- On programs packaged in the RenderWare Software Development Kit, the text was used as an on-screen bug on the bottom left and is abbreviated "RW".
- Later games have the logo fading in.
Technique: The zooming or the fade in and out.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Can be seen on many games using this engine. The variant with "Graphics" appeared on Donkey Xote for PSP. The in-credit version appears in Sonic Heroes.
