Background
Renegade Animation is an animation studio founded in 1992 by Disney and Warner Bros. animator and director Darrell Van Citters and his business partner Ashley Postlewaite. It is based in Glendale, California. The company did not use a logo until 2001.
1st Logo (June 8, 2001-July 6, 2003, Captain Sturdy custom variant)
Visuals: There is the word "Renegade" in black on a white background. Underneath that, there is a red line separating the text from "a n i m a t i o n", which is spaced out.
Variant: on Captain Sturdy: Back in Action, the bottom text is red.
Technique: A fading effect.
Audio: The ending theme of the show.
Availability: Seen on Captain Sturdy: Back in Action and Captain Sturdy: The Originals.
2nd Logo (November 19, 2004-October 19, 2009, March 6, 2023-)
Visuals: On a white background, an orange rectangle pans across the middle of the screen from right to left, expanding then suddenly squashing. The rectangle splits into two rectangles spinning in opposite directions of each other until they position themselves, forming a letterbox format. The text "Rᴇ EG DE" in a jagged, Rockwell-like, orange and red font appears between the rectangles. Suddenly, arrows form and begin twisting and turning in between the spaces, forming the letters "N" and "A" respectively, making the word "RᴇNEGADE". "ANIMATION" in a white, serif font fades and zooms in, placing itself onto the lower rectangle.
Variants:
- On US prints of The Mr. Men Show and Bossy Bear, the logo starts where the two arrows are forming. Furthermore, the latter show uses a gradient effect.
- There is a still version on UK prints of The Mr. Men Show.
- An in credit variant exists where the logo is white and "ANIMATION" is moved to the left.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: First, a popup sound, then a Hanna-Barbera "running" sound effect as the rectangles zoom in followed by a few more H-B "zoom" SFX before and during the formation of the arrows. Finally, a "blip" sound as "ANIMATION" pops up.
Audio Variants:
- Sometimes, the ending theme plays over.
- The US dub of The Mr. Men Show only has the last "zoom" sound effect and "blip" sound intact.
- On the UK dub of The Mr. Men Show, it is silent.
Availability: Seen on Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi and The Mr. Men Show when it last aired on Boomerang in 2013. It can also be seen on Re-Animated. The in-credit variant is exclusive to Elefun and Friends: A Tangled Tale, a cartoon that was only released on a DVD packed with Elefun and Friends-branded Hasbro games around 2008. It returned on Bossy Bear on Nickelodeon.
