Background
Rich Animation Studios was an animation studio that was started in Burbank, California and was owned by Nest Family Entertainment; the company was one of four companies (the others were Family Entertainment Network, Living History Productions, and Cassette Duplicators) consolidated into Nest in 1993. The studio was founded by Richard Rich, who previously worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and its first and most famous film was The Swan Princess. In 2000, due to heavy box office losses, Nest sold the company to Indian company Crest Communications Ltd. to form RichCrest Animation with A. K. Madhavan; the company became focused on animated television shows, in most cases using the "Crest Communications" name. In February 2007, it was renamed Crest Animation.
