The letters are holes in a transparent white background in front of Earth and Mars. As "RK" is zooming out, Earth is moving upwards and Mars is moving downwards, toward "RK". "RK" has a bit of red in it, and all of the text has a white shadow behind it.

Availability: Can be seen on Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict, which, as far as I know, is gone beyond off-air recordings (a clue for those who want to find it: the show was distributed by Tribune Entertainment, and it likely aired on the Tribune stations).
