Background

Shamley Productions was filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock's production company. It was named after the British village of Shamley Green, where the Hitchcocks owned a country retreat. On August 1964, Alfred Hitchcock handed over ownership of the company to Universal, along with its distribution rights of its shows, eventually folding its operations.

1st Logo (October 2, 1955-1965)

Logo: Basically an in-credit logo, with "SHAMLEY PRODUCTIONS, INC.", typically on a gray background. After a few seconds, a black-bordered silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock, facing to the left, fades in behind the in-credit logos featured. The featured logos then fade away simultaneously, leaving the silhouette behind.

Trivia: As with the next logo, the Alfred Hitchcock silhouette is derived from the title card of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. The same silhouette also appears on the credits' background.

Variants:

  • Starting from 1958, at the time when Revue Studios changed their logo, "SHAMLEY PRODUCTIONS, INC." was replaced with "A SHAMLEY PRODUCTION", and was shifted to the top of the screen.
  • There is one variant where the text was somehow modified. The font was made sans-serif, with "A" and "PRODUCTION" made smaller and placed on top and bottom of "SHAMLEY", respectively.
  • Sometimes, the silhouette would be excluded.

Technique: 2D animation. Otherwise, none.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show.

Music/Sounds Variant: Sometimes, the Revue jingle can be heard.

Availability: Extinct. Seen on Psycho (1960), Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, produced for Revue Studios. Used in tandem with the next logo below.

2nd Logo (1962-1965)

Logo: On a gray background, we see the same silhouette from the preceding logo. In front of the silhouette,

A
SHAMLEY
PRODUCTION

is displayed.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: The end of the Revue jingle.

Availability: Same as above. Used in tandem with the previous logo above.
