Background
Shamley Productions was filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock's production company. It was named after the British village of Shamley Green, where the Hitchcocks owned a country retreat.
1st Logo (1955-1965)
Nickname(s): "The Alfred Hitchcock Silhouette"
Logo: Basically an in-credit logo, with "SHAMLEY PRODUCTIONS, INC.", typically on a grey background. After a few seconds, a black-bordered silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock, facing to the left, fades in behind the in-credit logos featured. The featured logos then fade away simultaneously, leaving the silhouette behind.
Variants:
- Starting from 1958, at the time when Revue Studios changed their logo, "SHAMLEY PRODUCTIONS, INC." was replaced with "A SHAMLEY PRODUCTION", and was shifted to the top of the screen.
- There is one variant where the text was somehow modified. The font was made sans-serif, with "A" and "PRODUCTION" made smaller and placed on top and bottom of "SHAMLEY", respectively.
- Sometimes, the silhouette would be excluded.
FX/SFX: The fading out of the credits and the fading in of the silhouette. Otherwise, none.
Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show. Sometimes, the Revue jingle can be heard.
Availability: Extinct. Seen on Psycho (1960), Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, produced for Revue Studios.
Editor's Note: The silhouette, accompanied by the closing theme of the show, can startle you every now and then. Otherwise, people may not seem to bother. Not much to say here.
2nd Logo (1962-1965)
Nickname(s): "The Alfred Hitchcock Silhouette II"
Logo: On a grey background, we see the same silhouette from the preceding logo. In front of the silhouette,
SHAMLEY
PRODUCTION
is displayed.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: The end of the Revue jingle.
Availability: Same as above.
Editor's Note: Similar to above, only now that the logo has the Revue jingle in it. Not really the best way to end a company here.
