Background: Showcase was launched on 1st January 1995 as a venture between Alliance Entertainment and CBC (including also a number of independent producers). After years Showcase fell under full control of Alliance Atlantis, whose assets were acquired by CanWest, and the property of latter was in turn picked by Shaw Media, and now Corus Entertainment. which remains the current owner of Showcase, an English-language Canadian channel.
