Background
Simpson Street is the production company of actress Kerry Washington, launched in 2016 with an overall deal at ABC Studios (now ABC Signature). The company brought in Sharla Sumpter Bridgett as a development executive/producing partner. It is named after the street where Washington's mom grew up in the Bronx. The company renewed its deal with ABC Signature in July 2020.
