Background

The Smart Cat Seal Of Approval is a seal that was made for the South Carolina Educational Television Kids block (PBS Kids for ETV). According to Trademarkia, the seal has been in use since 1997.

1st Logo (2013?)

Logo: On a lime green background, we see a purple-orange gradient circle with the text "SMART CAT" up top in green and "seal of approval" below in yellow. The logo would usually be followed by a daytime screen with the current SCETV wordmark and the text "PBS KIDS" in the same font. As the screen goes, various PBS Kids characters would be seen zooming to the left side of the screen (as if they are walking) while various PBS stations for South Carolina are seen below.

Variants: After a certain time (probably 5 or 6 pm), The block would switch to The Night Night Show. As a result, the logo's background will be a dark purple color with fireflies.

  • On some occasions, the character screen will switch to a screen for "ETV endowment" with the current ETV logo.

FX/SFX: 2D Animation

Music/Sounds: An upbeat jazzy-like tune during the entire logo. Usually, Smart Cat himself would also state "The following program has The Smart Cat Seal Of Approval".

Music/Sounds Variants: Sometimes the jingle will be shortened.

Availability: Current. Seen on ETV Kids shows with the seal. Some examples are Arthur, Cyberchase, Odd Squad, and many other PBS Kids shows before 2013. Some shows during The Night Night Show skip the logo and go straight into the ident.
