'''Speedy Video''' is a Malaysian video retailer (similar to Blockbuster in the United States) that specialized in DVDs, Blu-rays, VCDs and CDs. They also released works on home video. The company was notable for their dubs of anime like ''Dragon Ball Z'', which are highly infamous for their poor translations, voice acting and audio mixing among other issues. In 2020, Speedy Video began the process of closing all its stores to focus more on online shopping. Their last store to date, located in EkoCheras Mall, closed down on October 25, 2021. Speedy Video is a Malaysian video retailer (similar to Blockbuster in the United States) that specialized in DVDs, Blu-rays, VCDs and CDs. They also released works on home video. The company was notable for their dubs of anime like Dragon Ball Z, which are highly infamous for their poor translations, voice acting and audio mixing among other issues. In 2020, Speedy Video began the process of closing all its stores to focus more on online shopping. Their last store to date, located in EkoCheras Mall, closed down on October 25, 2021. They have not released any of their own physical media titles since 2020.
1st (known) logo (1996-2009?)
Visuals: On a cloudy green background, the camera pans down to show a shiny and featureless golden man in starting position for track and field on a pixelated black and gold surface. The man starts running as the camera starts to pan/zoom until he is at the left side of the screen and he freezes mid-run. The word "SPEEDY", in a computerized font with green slashes in the two "E"'s, slides in from the right and settles next to the man. The surface also shifts a bit to the left when the word settles.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A rising synthesized theme (sounding like the 1988 RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video logo theme at the beginning) with two synthesized orchestral hits, followed by 4 low choir notes (the last one held until the end).
Availability: Can be found on Video CD releases of Ultraman, their (infamous) dubs of the Dragon Ball Z films and Tom & Jerry Kids.
Legacy: This logo is infamous within the community for its CGI.
2nd (known) logo (2008-2020)
Visuals: In an all-white video store, there is a spherical object crashing into walls causing dents. It then goes to the DVD section and makes all the discs fly. There is a Blu-Ray, a DVD, a Video CD and a CD, and the screen then cuts out and go to the Speedy Video logo, in a design similar to the previous logo, but this time looking more modern. The golden running man is now more detailed and silver, is an outline and has been radically redesigned. "Video" in a script font appears below, as well as the company's website.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A new-age theme.
Availability: Can be seen on the company's Blu-ray, DVD, VCD and CD releases from the late 2000s onward. One of its earliest appearances include Gao Xue Series: Supreme Game.
