Background
Starfish-SD was a video game developer that was originally formed in 1994 as simply Starfish after the Japanese branch of Hot-B entered bankruptcy.
1st Logo (September 23, 1994-February 10, 2016)
Logo: On a black or a white background, we see the text "STAR★FISHTM". The star (★) turns several times to yellow (★) as the word "PRESENTS" wipes in below the logo. As the star (★) stops turning, it takes a bow and stands.
Variants:
- Starting in 1998 (except for Kaseki Sousei Reborn 2: Monster Digger (GBC, 1999)), the word "PRESENTS" is bolder and the color is orange.
- On Nintendo DS titles, like Devilish: Ball Bounder and Super Black Bass: Dynamic Shot, the star is in 3D, and the word "PRESENTS", in orange gradient, is already there below the logo.
- Sometimes, the logo is in B&W in GB titles, or in any color in SGB titles.
Technique: 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Seen on most titles released by the company such as Super Black Bass 2 (SFC, 1994).
2nd Logo (February 3, 2000-July 26, 2001)
Logo: On a black background, we see the text "STAR★FISH" zoom in 3D. Once the logo settles, a flash appears in front of the red star.
Technique: CGI animation.
Music/Sounds: A 2-note bell.
Availability: Seen on the PSX titles Super Black Bass X2, GunDress and The Blue Marlin, and the DC Himitsu: Tadagaita Natsu.
3rd Logo (December 28, 2000, October 17, 2002)
Logo: On a black background, a white outline of a star zooms in the center, and stops as a glow appears zooming out of it. The words "STAR and FISH then grow between the star as a glow appears behind them briefly.
Technique: 2D computer animation.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Seen on the PSX title Wizardry Empire and its second sequel.
