Background

Starlight Media is a Chinese-owned film financier company founded by CEO Peter Luo in 2016. The company has an office in Beverly Hills, California.

(September 10, 2021-)

Visuals: On a background composed of mostly black paint-like liquids, a golden paintstroke draws, which then writes a golden "S". We then zoom out once it draws "tarlight". An italicized star is then drawn beside the "t", and fades out.

Variant: On Malignant, the logo has a videotape feel to it and glitches throughout.

Technique: CGI by Filmograph based on storyboards from Christoph Gabathuler, who they contacted after designing the print logo to come up with the concept of how it animates on-screen. Here are some of Gabathuler's unused concepts and frames for the logo.

Audio: A majestic orchestra-like fanfare or the opening theme of the film.

Availability: This first appeared on Malignant as a variant. The standard version made its first appearance on Filmograph's website, and later on Umma.
