Background
Stu Segall Productions was a film and television production company and studio formed by Stu Segall in 1991, based in San Diego, California. The company has been presumably dormant since 2011, with Strategic Operations (a tactical training service formed by Segall in 2002) remaining open in its former studio.
1st Logo (November 7, 1991-December 3, 1992)
Visuals: On a light blue/dark blue-gradient background, a metallic silver object is seen, resembling a bird in mid-flight with filmstrips for wings. Above the bird, the text "Stu Segall Productions", in a Laser STD font, fades in.
Technique: Computer animation.
Audio: The end theme of Silk Stalkings.
Availability: Seen on Season 1 and early Season 2 episodes of Silk Stalkings.
2nd Logo (December 10, 1992-July 18, 2007)
Visuals: On a light blue background with splotches of white at the top (like clouds), a rounded rectangle border is seen with the text "Stu Segall Productions" at the bottom of it, casting a shadow. Flying in from the right side of the screen, a large filmstrip in the shape of wings comes flying in. As soon as it settles into the top of the outline, a flash produces a bird's body in its place and the filmstrip fades to 2D, creating a seagull-like shape.
Trivia: If the viewer looks closely in the later variant, a man and a woman smiling can be seen.
Variants:
- In 1996, the background is changed to a live-action shot of a house on an island at sunset. The filmstrip has also been enhanced with cleaner animation and pictures of the show, and the rest of the logo fades in before the bird appears. The entire logo, sans filmstrip, is also in a shiny dark blue color.
- Short variants of both logos exist.
- A filmed version exists, but just for the original version.
- The words "in association with" may fade in below or above, as seen on the 1996 ABC TV movie Wiseguy.
- Sometimes, the logo is superimposed over the credits.
- Sometimes, the logo is still.
- On current prints of Tiger Cruise, the logo is stretched to 16:9.
Technique: CGI, with live action for the later variant.
Audio: A majestic flute melody, with some horns and synth-strings in the background. In 1997, it used a different synth/violin tune (sometimes with drums); this was used with the short variant, though on Motocrossed it used a shortened version of the normal music. Occasionally, it may use the ending theme of the show/movie.
Availability: It was seen on TV shows, direct-to-video movies, and TV movies such as Silk Stalkings, 18 Wheels of Justice, and Pensacola: Wings of Gold. It is assumed to be intact on the former show's DVDs. Also seen on the Disney Channel movies Motocrossed, Tiger Cruise, and Renegade.
