Background

Suevia Films was a Spanish film production and distribution company founded in 1940 by Cesáreo González. During the 1940s-1960s, they were one of Spain's biggest studios responsible for more than 130 films, averaging five per year. The studio has ceased film production six years after Cesáreo González's death, before continuing as a film distributor until they we're finally closed down in 1983.

1st Logo (1941-April 23 1945)

Logo: Usually seen after credits, where we see a black circle with a stylized "S" and "F" with a spotlight coming from the upper part of the "F" (either the rest is shown outlined). Underneath it is "SUEVIA FILMS CESAREO GONZALEZ" in a stacked form, with either "UNA SUPERPRODUCCION" or "UNA PRODUCCION" arched above the circle.

Variants:

  • On La rueda de la vida and ¡¡Campeones!!, the above text is in a script font and with a white drop shadow behind it. The text "SUEVIA FILMS" is arched in a western font, with "CESAREO GONZALEZ" shown in a small format.
  • On El abanderado, the above text is semi-large, with "SUEVIA FILMS" having two quotation marks in both ends, with "CESAREO GONZALEZ" in a small format.

2nd Logo (September 27 1946-September 2 1953)

Logo: On a black background, we see the logo (with the lights replaced with rays) shown inside a stylized object. The text "SUEVIA FILMS" fades below, as the background fades through panoramic shots of the city of Vigo. After a few seconds, the text "CESAREO GONZALEZ" in a big format fades in. Then, "Presenta" wipes in underneath.

Logo: Superimposed on a background, we see the logo, slightly modified - the letters are semi-small, and are tilted - alongside the texts "SUEVIA FILMS" above and "CESAREO GONZALEZ PRESENTA A" below in a stacked form.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Extremely rare. Seen only on Mare nostrum and Sabela de cambados.

4th Logo (December 29 1950)

Logo: Superimposed on a cloud background, we see the logo as shown similarly in the 2nd logo, sans the rays. Underneath it is "CESAREO GONZALEZ".

Availability: Seen only on La noche del sábado.

5th Logo (May 23 1951)

Logo: Superimposed over a desert surface, we see the logo from the previous logos, albeit on a outlined form, tilted and sans the rays. The text "CESAREO GONZALEZ" is shown above the logo, alongside "Presenta a" below.

6th Logo (December 15 1952, September 29 1960)

Logo: On a cloudy teal background, we see a drawn flag made of red and white triangles with the logo in teal on the center, with the flagpole in gold. Underneath it is "SUEVIA FILMS", "CESAREO GONZALEZ" and "presenta" in a stacked form.

Variant: On Aventuras de Joselito y Pulgarcito, the flag is more cartoon drawn, and is paired with the Cinematografica Filmex logo. The first letters of each word is in black, while the rest is in red.

8th Logo (November 19 1953)

Logo: On a panoramic view of Vigo, the logo abruptly appears in a blur effect, before zooming in and focusing. Then, the texts "SUEVIA FILMS" and "CESAREO GONZALEZ" wipe to the right in order. Shortly after, "Presenta" then writes over.

Technique: Cel animation.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 2nd logo.

Availability: Seen only on Gitana tenías que ser.

9th Logo (July 31 1954-May 11 1970)

Logo: On a panoramic view of Vigo, a flagpole is seen on the left, as a flag rises to the top, which reveals the same flag from the 6th logo. After it reaches to the top, the texts "SUEVIA FILMS" and "CESÁREO GONZÁLEZ" are revealed by particles that move out from both sides. The texts then zoom slowly, as the text "Presenta" writes over.

Variants:

  • A different version is seen on La gitana y el charro, where we see a different panoramic view of the latter city, with the texts "SUEVIA FILMS", "CESAREO GONZALEZ" and "presenta" fading in, shown during the rest of the logo.
