Background

Suevia Films was a Spanish film production and distribution company founded in 1940 by Cesáreo González. During the 1940s-1960s, they were one of Spain's biggest studios responsible for more than 130 films, averaging five per year. The studio has ceased film production six years after Cesáreo González's death, before continuing as a film distributor until they we're finally closed down in 1983.

1st Logo (1941-April 23, 1945)

Visuals: Usually seen after credits, where we see a black circle with a stylized "S" and "F" with a spotlight coming from the upper part of the "F" (either the rest is shown outlined). Underneath it is "SUEVIA FILMS CESAREO GONZALEZ" in a stacked form, with either "UNA SUPERPRODUCCION" or "UNA PRODUCCION" arched above the circle.

Variants:

  • On La rueda de la vida and ¡¡Campeones!!, the above text is in a script font and with a white drop shadow behind it. The text "SUEVIA FILMS" is arched in a western font, with "CESAREO GONZALEZ" shown in a small format.
  • On El abanderado, the above text is semi-large, with "SUEVIA FILMS" having two quotation marks in both ends, with "CESAREO GONZALEZ" in a small format.
  • On Castañuela, the lights (shown as two diagonal bars on the outlined format) are omitted.

Technique: None. [possible misuse]

Audio: The end tail of the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on earlier films of the company.

2nd Logo (September 27, 1946-September 2, 1953)

Visuals: On a black background is the logo (with the lights replaced with rays) shown inside a stylized object. The text "SUEVIA FILMS" fades below, as the background fades through panoramic shots of the city of Vigo. After a few seconds, the text "CESAREO GONZALEZ" in a big format fades in. Then, "Presenta" wipes in underneath.

Technique: A mix of live-action and cel animation.

Audio: A triumphant fanfare.

Audio Variant: On Si te hubieces casado conmigo, a different triumphant, half-dramatic theme replaces the former.

Availability: Seen on films during the time being, such as La pródiga, El emigrado, Botón de ancla, among others.

3rd Logo (September 29, 1947-May 11, 1970)

Visuals: On a panoramic view of Vigo, a flagpole is seen on the left, as a flag rises to the top, which reveals a flag made of dark and bright triangles with the logo in the center. After reaching the top, the texts "SUEVIA FILMS" and "CESÁREO GONZÁLEZ" are revealed by particles that move out from both sides. The texts then zoom slowly, as the text "Presenta" is written over.

Variants:

  • A different version is seen on La gitana y el charro, where we see a different panoramic view of the latter city, with the texts "SUEVIA FILMS", "CESAREO GONZALEZ" and "presenta" fading in, shown during the rest of the logo. When the flag rises, the flag is shown differently, where the color of the circle is gray. The logo fades early in this version.
    • A colored version of the above also exists.
  • Another different version is seen on a Spanish print of Tecnica per un massacro, where we see another different panoramic view of the latter city, with the flag is shown in the top-left corner. The texts from the above variant fade in.

Technique: A mix of live action and cel animation.

Audio: A rising triumphant fanfare.

Audio Variant: On La Nao Capitana, it uses the 2nd logo's theme.

Availability: Seen on films during the time being, starting with La danza de los deseos, last seen on a Spanish print of Tecnica per un massacro.
