Background

TFOU Vidéo, originally known as TF! Vidéo, is a sub-label of TF1 Vidéo, TF1's label for video releases of their programs. In contrast to the main label, TF! Vidéo is used for video releases of children programming, namely those broadcasted as part of the TF! block from which the sub-label took its original name. After the block was renamed to TFOU in 2007, TF! Vidéo also changed its name to TFOU Vidéo to fit with the block.

TF! Vidéo

1st Logo (1997-2001)

Logo: Similarly to the opening of the TF! block, we see the TF1 Vidéo logo on a white background at the bottom of the screen. From within the logo, a yellow ball pushes three times before the blue half of the TF1 part of the logo opens up, the ball jumping out of it. It then pushes the Vidéo text off-screen. The ball jumps back on-screen from the left and whistles, calling over a goofier-looking Vidéo text in purple. Following this is an arrangement of the TF! opening sequence: the ball pushing the TF1 logo to the middle of the screen, stretching its corners one by one. The ball then steps back to gain momentum before jumping onto the logo, deforming it into the TF! logo. The purple Vidéo letters cheer and create a box underneath the logo by stretching from five corners in the middle. They then take their respective places within the box, changing from purple to white. As children announce the name of the label in excitement, each letter stretches in time with their voices. The entire logo flashes in different color combinations before zooming onto it and then zooming out to see each color combination and what type of programming they correspond to.

Trivia: The entire sequence is based on the opening sequence of the TF! block, albeit with a few differences.

Variants: As mentioned, depending on the type of programming, the logo would take on different colors:

TV shows have a red and yellow logo with a pink ball and a purple box.
Cartoons have an orange and cyan logo with a red ball and a pink box.
Documentaries have a green and pink logo with a yellow ball and a cyan box.
Movies have a deep purple and green logo with a cyan ball and an orange box.
Starting in 1999, the zoom in-zoom out to all the variants was cut. The logo now fades away before the URL to TF1 Vidéo's website appears letter-by-letter at the center of the screen, in the colors of the corresponding variant.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A bunch of sounds with a saxophone playing a tune sounding like the Dinosaurs theme. It's actually an 8-note leitmotif used in the block's closing theme.

Availability: Seen on releases from the company at the time.

Orange/Cyan - Dog Tracer, Les Petites Sorcières, Papyrus, le film, Poil de Carotte, Lapitch, le petit cordonnier, La Flèche bleue, Mon Voisin Totoro
Red/Yellow - Fifi Brindacier, Les Aventures de Poly, Tweenies, Bobo et ses amis (despite having the orange/cyan variant on the cover)
Purple/Green - Un visiteur chez le roi Arthur, Zeus et Roxanne, Prince Valiant
Green/Pink - Unknown

2nd Logo (2001-2007)

Logo: On a two-toned purple background, with one half lighter than the other, a yellow ball raises the two halves of the TF! logo above the ViDEO text before settling under the 1. The red half of the logo begins to slide off, with the ball quickly putting it back in place. The yellow half soon follows, the ball hurrying to keep it from falling. However, the red half also begins to slide off once again. The ball quickly pushes the yellow half back up and then the red half before going back under the yellow half, causing the entire logo to lose balance. After trying in vain to keep the two halves together, the ball zooms across the screen, hitting the logo around 6 times before it finally settles back into place. Children then say the label's name happily before the background fades to white, showing the "ViDEO" text in a box with the same two-tone purple background and the TF1 Vidéo URL underneath.

Trivia: Much like how the first logo is a rearrangement of the opening sequence of TF!, this specific logo is based on a bumper used in the block at the time. The sound clip of the children saying "TF!" is also taken from that bumper.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A bunch of slouching music.

Availability: Appears on titles released under the label.

Such examples include Sabrina: Apprentie Sorcière - En Toute Malice, Sabrina au Royaume des Sorcières, Sonic le Rebelle, Pat & Stan and the 2 volumes of Le Monde Fou de Tex Avery.
The logo was replaced with the TFOU video logo beginning in August 2007.

TFOU Vidéo

(2007- )

Logo: On a yellow background, the TFOU logo rolls on-screen from the left before jumping slightly upwards to settle in the middle of the screen. In quick succession, the logo proceeds to be scared of a monster, rolling backwards and splatting itself on the background, snapping its two halves back together, laughing, showing its back to reveal a number of eyes looking around, stretching far to the sides before imploding from the impact and slowly moving back to the middle of the screen like a spring. After that, the logo spins around before the Vidéo text appears under "TFOU" with a sparkle.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: Children singing a slower rendition of the block's opening theme, before saying "TFOU!" together at the end. Different sound effects are also used for each part of the sequence.

Availability: Ultra common. Seen on children's DVDs in France, such as Dora the Explorer series.
