Background

TH!NKFilm was a Canadian-American film company founded in August 2001 by Jeff Sackman and a number of former Lionsgate Films employees.[1] The company was headquartered in both New York and Toronto, and before acquiring movies, got its start by reissuing titles from the Blackwatch Releasing library. In 2006, TH!NKFilm was acquired alongside Capitol Films by film producer David Bergstein. The company released many acclaimed films during its lifetime, only to suddenly halt in 2009 and close most of its operations; the following year, what remaining operations of the two companies that were still up were forced into bankruptcy due to a large lawsuit. Many of TH!NKFilm's former employees have gone on to form companies such as A24 and Oscilloscope Laboratories.

1st Logo (2001-2003)


Visuals: Over a black background, the logo starts with the text "THINKFilm", with "THINK" in white and "Film" in dark purple. The "I" in "THINK" is arranged upside down, and there is no dot on either of the "I"s in the logo. Visuals: On a black background, the "TH!NKFilm" text from the previous logo zooms in without its dots. A few seconds later, the dots appear on the "I"s in the same mismatched colors.

Audio: Either a short choir theme with two chime notes and strings by Voodoo Highway Music, or none.

Audio Variant: On Awesome, I F**kin' Shot That!, 2 ascending notes (taken from the Beastie Boys song "Girls") are heard.

Availability: Seen on films from the company during this period, such as Genesis, Awesome, I F**kin' Shot That!, Murderball, Spellbound, Encounters at the End of the World, The Zodiac and 10 Items or Less.
