TH!NKFilm

Background

TH!NKFilm was a film company created by David Bergstein that, despite being officially formed in September 2001, first used its logo on the 1999 Canadian VHS of Twin Falls Idaho. In 2006, TH!NKFilm was acquired by Capitol Films. The company released many acclaimed films during its lifetime, only to suddenly halt in 2009 and close most of its operations--its last 2 films produced that year were instead distributed by Capitol, who themselves were undergoing shutdowns at the time. In 2010, what remaining operations of TH!NKFilm, Capitol Films, R2D2, CT-1 and Capco that were still up were forced into bankruptcy due to a large lawsuit.

1st Logo (1999-2003)

Logo: On a black background, we see the text "THINKFilm", with "THINK" in white and "Film" in dark purple. The "I" in "THINK" is arranged upside down, and there is no dot on either of the "I"s in the logo. After a few seconds, 2 dots appear in the picture--a purple one at the bottom of the "I" in "THINK", thus forming an exclamation point, and a white one at the top of "Film".

FX/SFX: The dots appearing.

Music/Sounds: A film projector sound, along with a stamping sound and a pop as the dots appear.

Availability: Seen on the 1999 Canadian VHS of Twin Falls Idaho and the Columbia TriStar DVD of Spellbound.

2nd Logo (2002-2008)

Logo: On a black background, the "TH!NKFilm" text from the previous logo zooms in without its dots. A few seconds later, the dots appear on the "I"s in the same mismatched colors.

FX/SFX: The logo zooming, the dots appearing.

Music/Sounds: Either a short choir theme with two chime notes and strings, or none.

Music/Sounds Variant: On Awesome, I F**kin' Shot That!, 2 ascending notes (taken from the Beastie Boys song "Girls") are heard.

Availability: Rare. Seen on films from the company during this period, such as Genesis, Awesome, I F**kin' Shot That!, Murderball, Spellbound, Encounters at the End of the World, The Zodiac and 10 Items or Less.
